My final act was removing my 134k+ Bottles of Black Sand from my safety deposit box and putting them into my inventory. This is some additional insurance against ever coming back, as there is NOTHING one can do to access items when there are that many.

Anyway, as promised, here are some screenshots of that event:

The first shows the items in the SDB. I couldn’t take them all out at once. It would, however, do 20,000 at a time.

The second shows my inventory page with the item count. Note that no images even display. I couldn’t see a thing.

The third is me trying to type into a BD Chat board letting everyone know that I tried QuickStock, but it locked up tight trying to display it. I tried several times and it never would load.

Farewell, everyone. My advice for those who may care: Don’t do things out of habit. If they are no longer fun, stop doing them.

1) Don’t use IE for browsing. It is an electronic trainwreck.
2) Use NoScript in Firefox and CONFIGURE IT PROPERLY. Whitelist neopets.com and don’t let any even marginally questionable sites run script.
3) Don’t bother with stupid IM programs, silly add-ins for social networking sites, or P2P software.
4) If you are going so surf for porn, expect keylogging/spyware installs.
5) Don’t share passwords between sites…especially for your email accounts (which are often the weak link and gateway for people to get into your account).
6) Install and keep your antivirus software up to date.
7) Don’t choose easily guessed PINs or passwords.

I’m putting my Neopoints where my mouth is, too. I have had a board up on BDChat for over two days now challenging anyone to send me a link from which I can get cookie grabbed. I’ve tried over a dozen so far…nothing. Zip, zilch, nada.

It makes one wonder which of the 7 things above people are doing wrong to have their accounts lifted.

I’ll extend the challenge to here while I am at it. Drop me a link. What is the worst that could happen? You might walk away with my account!

Or…if you have some CG code that you have seen, feel free to post it. I am quite curious about how this latest variant works. I don’t buy for a minute that I am in any danger, but I would like to see what the unwashed masses using IE are up against.

There was a bit of a scare on Neopets the other day regarding unauthorized access to anyone’s Neomail. Someone clearly was able to do so and posted a bunch to a website somewhere, but it is not clear how widespread the problem was or if it was pulled off by a disgruntled staff member.

Innyhoo…I created a board asking if people remembered that one time that some guy posted Neomails to and from other people (as it had happened minutes before and he got frozen). Bat posted on the board saying that he puts stuff in Neomails that he wouldn’t want others to know about. In standard BD Chat fashion, I responded “Learn_to_Mail_Order_Bride”. A few minutes later, the board poofed and I was suspended for 48 hours.

The definition of “Mail Order Bride” doesn’t exactly seem all that naughty or over the top, so I suspect someone on TNT just wanted to see that board (and all references to the Neomail security breaches) disappear. Suspending my ass was the quickest path to that result.

Oh well. Good times.
